What is Wire?
Wire is our answer to the problem of finding the latest and most important gaming news. Most gaming sites do a good job of working out what's worth talking about, but do a very bad job of helping you work out what's worth your time to know.

We basically subscribe to all the big gaming sites (and some of the small ones) and record everything they write. We then let you, the reader, vote on what's important. Once you have just a few people voting like this, you can soon get a very accurate filter.

Why is there no user submitted content?
Most of the biggest problems on nearly all news aggregation sites comes down to them being based usually entirely on user submitted content. We don't want to give you some random shitty blog's version of the news, we want you to give you the source. If you want user-submitted content driven sites then there are already loads out there.

Why is the time on Wire different from the time on the actual site?
Most websites don't use RSS properly. Be it through ignorance or incompetence many sites don't use the right formatting of the time in their feeds (which is what we use to get post information). Instead of building our system to work with every variation on how time can be written, we simply set the time to be when we found the post.

What's with the kitten pictures?
Our server always tries to find an image to go with the posts. It looks at the article in question and plucks the very first image it finds. Usually this is the header image. If it's not, and something breaks, instead of showing you an error we ask the server to show you a picture of a kitten.

What do you know about me?
Not that much to be honest. As we build the system we're adding to the list of Things We Need To Know, but if we don't need the information, we don't store it. There's a section on your profile to give you all the information we store on you, if you really care.

Sometimes I visit and everything looks broken, why?
Because it's broken. Wire is growing and changing at a very dramatic speed and because of this, often times we'll update something that breaks the server in a new and exciting way.

How are you going to buy your jet? / How does Wire make money?
Wire, right now, doesn't make any money. Our plan is to get you all hooked on it by making it awesome, then work out how to buy food. There are a couple of money-making options available to us, as we see it.

The first is simply adverts. We stick a bunch of ads on every page, and we make money. The problem is these ads are usually annoying and ugly. SO, we're working on a second option; pro accounts. These will be paid for accounts (costing a few dollars per month) and will open up advanced functionality to you. It's still early days, but that should give you an idea as to what our plans are.
